October held two more running challenges for Croyland Car Megastore’s general manager, Mark Swindells, as he completed the Birmingham half marathon and the 10K Great South Run last month to raise money for Children with Cancer.
The Birmingham half marathon actually signaled Mark’s marathon anniversary, as it was this race in 2014 that introduced Mark to his love of running. And in testament to how far the Rushden-based car dealer has come, his running time was a massive 30 minutes faster than he achieved last year, completing the 13.1 mile course in 1.53.34.
With an impressive seven races now under his belt, Mark will face his final challenge of the year in Milton Keynes in December. The winter half marathon on 13th December completes his year of fundraising in the hope of raising £5,000 for Children with Cancer UK and local charity, The Cransley Hospice.
Whilst the MK winter marathon will be the final run of the year, it doesn’t signal the end. Mark has already been awarded the accolade of MK running ambassador in 2016 and he has been allocated a place in the prestigious London marathon.
