CROYLAND CHARITY DRIVERS TAKE FUNDRAISING POLE POSITION

Two driven Northants workmates from Croyland Car Megastore have raised thousands of pounds for a local charity.

Croyland colleagues Jamie and Josh Burton took part in this year’s ScumRun 2019 and got behind the wheel, navigating thousands of miles to raise money for Chelsea’s Angels, a charity which helps children diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and other childhood cancers.

The Burton’s big-hearted efforts has so far raised over £2,600 for the charity after Croyland, the Rushden dealership where they both work as part of the award-winning sales team, provided sponsorship of £250 and a part exchange vehicle, which was made into a diesel race car for the charity challenge.

In a further fundraising boost the driven duo surpassed their initial target of £1,000 when MotoNovo Finance, a finance supplier linked to Croyland donated £1,000, taking the total raised to £2,680.

Jamie Burton said: “Rather than choosing a larger charity we wanted to support a local charity because we wanted to see where the money we raised went to. We both felt Chelsea’s Angels was the right charity to raise funds for, even as little as a few pounds will help change a child’s life forever. We want to thank everyone who has donated.”

Michelle Tomkins and Emma Knighton from Chelsea’s Angels visited Croyland Car Megastore to be presented with a cheque following Jamie and Josh’s fundraising feat.

Michelle Tomkins of Chelsea’s Angels said: “The fundraising and donations from this event will go towards making a huge difference to at least 10 children fighting cancer. We are truly grateful for everyone's support to our charity as we've been overwhelmed with applications from families needing help.

“We've supported the same number of children already that we would normally support in a 12-month period. So, this help has come at the right time, meaning we can continue supporting others.”

Mark Swindells, General Manager of Croyland Car Megastore, said: “We want to congratulate Jamie and Josh on their outstanding fundraising achievements. Croyland and MotoNovo were delighted to have been able to support such a worthy charity.”
